For parents & carers

Helping your child make sense of fatigue.

Take Charge! was designed for children and young people themselves — but they may choose to use it with you.

What is Take Charge!?

A digital learning experience that helps a young person understand fatigue, notice their own patterns, explore practical strategies and communicate what they need.

Support without taking over

Some children may want you beside them. Others may want to explore privately and show you something afterwards. Help with reading, communication or decision-making where needed, but wherever possible let the young person’s own experience and words lead My Power Bank.

My Power Bank

A way for your child to say: “This is what fatigue is like for me.”

The output can support conversations at home, at school and with healthcare professionals.

At home

Use it to understand patterns, warning signs and what genuinely helps.

At school

Use it to explain fatigue and discuss adjustments or strategies.

With clinicians

Use it as a starting point for a conversation about everyday impact and support.

Age, signup and consent

Young people should be able to explore public content without an account. Saving an account or health-related information uses age-appropriate consent/assent pathways.

Privacy and young-person control

Providing parent consent should not automatically mean unrestricted access to everything a teenager writes. Parent visibility should be a separate, explicit product and governance decision.

Parent & carer questions

Should I fill in My Power Bank for my child?

Ideally, My Power Bank reflects the young person’s own experience and words. Parents can assist where communication, age or support needs make that helpful, and the builder can record who completed it.

What if fatigue is new or much worse?

Take Charge! cannot determine why a child is fatigued. New, substantially changed or concerning fatigue should be discussed with the child’s healthcare team.

Can we use Take Charge! with school?

Yes. My Power Bank is designed as a communication tool that can help a young person explain what fatigue looks like and what helps them.
