Helping students explain their fatigue at school.

Fatigue is easy to miss in a classroom and easy to mistake for something else. Take Charge! gives a young person the words for what fatigue is like for them, what helps, and what they want their teachers to know.

What Take Charge! is

A digital learning experience for children and young people aged 5 to 19 who live with fatigue. A young person works through the stages at their own pace and finishes with My Power Bank, a one-page summary they can share with the adults around them.

The page you are reading is still being written. The guidance, activities and downloads for educators are being developed with teachers and will appear here before the pilot.

What a Power Bank tells you

A student's Power Bank describes their own fatigue in their own words. It is a communication tool, not an assessment.

What fatigue is like for them

The types of fatigue they notice, and how it shows up in a school day.

What the warning signs are

What a teacher might see before the student says anything.

What helps

The adjustments and strategies they have found useful, in their own words.

Resources for educators

Working with a student who uses Take Charge!?

Ask them what is in their Power Bank rather than asking for it. It belongs to the young person, and they choose what to share and with whom.
